‘Ramayana’: Rakul Preet Singh begins dubbing for Surpanakha; shares BTS pic from dubbing studio

Work on Nitesh Tiwari’s much-awaited ‘Ramayana’ is on in full swing, and actress Rakul Preet Singh gave fans the lates major update. The star, who plays the role of Surpanakha, the sister of Ravana, offered fans a behind-the-scenes glimpse into the film’s ongoing post-production, ahead of its Diwali 2026 release.The actress shared a selfie from the recording studio on social media, where she could be seen wearing headphones and taking her place behind the microphone. “#Ramayana dub,” She captioned the picture.Rakul plays Surpanakha, the sister of Ravana, in the two-part epic. Her casting has generated considerable interest, with the actress previously explaining that she was drawn to the character’s complexity. Speaking about the role to Money Control, Rakul said, “Every few years, you see a different interpretation and presentation of these characters, while keeping the essence rooted in the original text. As an actor, you only look at a character from that lens, that it’s a character that has layers, that has the possibility and ability to shine through the film.“She had also revealed that the script helped her discover aspects of Surpanakha’s life that she was previously unaware of. “There was a lot about her that I didn’t know. When I read the script, there was a lot about her life before and after that incident where her nose is chopped off by Lakshman,” she said.‘Ramayana’ stars Ranbir Kapoor as Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Sita and Yash as Ravana, with Ravi Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. The ensemble also includes Arun Govil, Lara Dutta, Kajal Aggarwal and other actors in key roles.The ambitious project is being mounted as a two-part cinematic adaptation. ‘Ramayana: Part One’ is scheduled for a worldwide theatrical release on November 5 and in India on November 8, on the occasion of Diwali. The second instalment is planned for Diwali 2027.
