A seven-year-old girl in China had one job when she found herself at a police station after getting lost: helping officers identify her parents. There was just one small problem. She did not know her parents’ phone numbers. She could not give the police enough information to contact them either. But the little girl was not going to let something as minor as a missing phone number stop her.She had another idea. She would draw her mother. The little girl drew a huge, almost perfectly round head, two tiny arms, long stick-like legs and a wide, happy smile.

The police officer looked at the masterpiece and, understandably, seemed to have one immediate question: “This is your mum?” The exchange, including the drawing, was later shared online and amused viewers.But while the portrait was unlikely to help police spot the girl’s mother in a crowd, the seven-year-old eventually gave them a much more useful clue.The incident happened in Xuwen County in Guangdong province on July 25, according to Mothershipsg report. A resident found the girl after she had become separated from her family and brought her to the police station.The girl had apparently gone out looking for her friends to play while her parents were away from home. Somewhere along the way, however, she got lost. At the police station, officers began asking her questions that could help them locate her family.The girl struggled with the answers. So she reached for paper and a pen. If she could not tell the officers how to contact her mother, she could at least show them what her mother looked like.
The little girl’s hilarious portrait left the officer questioning: “This is your mum?”
What followed was perhaps the least forensic police sketch ever produced. The portrait had all the confidence of a professional artist and absolutely none of the identifying details. There were eyes. There was a nose. There was a smile. There was a body. And, most importantly, according to the little artist, there was her mother.Police soon realised that asking the little girl to provide a detailed description of her mother might not get them very far. Fortunately, she remembered something else. She knew where she had gone grocery shopping with her mother. That clue turned out to be considerably more useful than the drawing. Officers put the girl in a police vehicle and drove around the area, asking her whether she recognised any of the places they passed.Using the locations she remembered, police were eventually able to narrow down the search and find her family. Her parents were located within hours, and the little girl was safely reunited with them.
