Following her father Bruce Willis’ diagnosis with frontotemporal dementia, daughter, Rumer Willis is taking a proactive approach to determine her health risks.The actress, who is the eldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore spoke to PEOPLE about her partnership with the health programme, in which, she was particularly interested in taking an APOE genetic test, which can help assess genetic risk of developing Alzheimer’s disease. Speaking to the portal, she revealed, “It’s terrifying to get answers sometimes. Obviously there are genetic things in my family. Not just dementia, I’ve had some family members who have had breast cancer and family members who have had different things.”“But I think when you have information, it’s power,” she said.Willis also said that having detailed health data allows her to have more informed conversations with her doctors. “You can’t gaslight me about what’s happening,” she said.The actress also revealed that she has been prioritising her health, much before her father’s diagnosis. “I think health is one of those things that we take for granted until we don’t have it. And I think that if you are taking small steps right now to be proactive about it, you might not have to have such a steep fall off the cliff as you get older.”Bruce Willis was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia (FTD) in 2023 after his family initially announced that he had been diagnosed with aphasia, a condition affecting his communication abilities. His family continues to share updates about his condition while advocating for dementia awareness.
