Govinda, Sunita Ahuja’s three month old daughter passed away as her lungs had not fully developed, the actor once spoke about the heart wrenching moment of immersing her body in Narmada river
Govinda is currently in the headlines after being spotted with aspiring actress Komal Rani Swarnkar, amid rumours linking the two romantically. While his wife Sunita Ahuja has made remarks that appeared to hint at the speculation, Govinda also has now hit back at her and asked her to stay in limits.Amid the ongoing discussion around their marriage, an emotional chapter from Govinda and Sunita’s past has also resurfaced. The couple, who tied the knot in 1987 after knowing each other before marriage, have faced the devastating loss of a child.Govinda and Sunita became parents to their daughter Tina in 1989 and later welcomed their son Yashvardhan in 1997. However, between the births of their two children, the couple lost a baby girl. After Tina’s birth, Sunita and Govinda welcomed another daughter, but the baby was born prematurely. Her lungs had not developed fully, and she passed away when she was just three months old. The loss deeply affected the couple, who reportedly took years to come to terms with the tragedy. They eventually found strength in each other and, years later, welcomed their son Yashvardhan. In an old video, Govinda had spoken about the devastating experience and recalled being asked by his mother to immerse his daughter’s body in the Narmada River. Carrying his lifeless child himself became one of the most painful experiences of his life. The actor remembered taking his daughter to the river on the ninth day of Navratri. During the journey, he encountered a woman who was begging while carrying her own baby. When she noticed the lifeless infant in Govinda’s arms, she immediately ran away.Describing the moment and the perspective it gave him on life, Govinda said, “Usne apne bacche ko ese sameta aur mere taraf se bhaagi. Uss waqt mujhe esa laga ki me bhikari hu aur ye malkin hai. Toh jeevan hai, ye aapko stardom mein bhi bhikari se battar baat dikhata hai aur kabhi kabhi bohot hi gareebi aur laachaari mein badshah se badhkar cheeze dikhata hai.”Years later, Sunita also opened up about the tragedy and how it influenced the way she raised Yashvardhan. During her appearance on Timeout with Ankit, she explained that her son received extra care because he was born several years after the death of their daughter.Speaking about her children, Sunita said, “Yash is a little pampered because he is eight years younger than Tina. Before Yash, I had another daughter, too, but she was premature and didn’t live. She was three months old when she expired; her lungs hadn’t developed. That is why I brought up Yash in a cocoon because I was scared. Now I have to fulfil all his wishes, but it’s fine.”Sunita’s comments offer a glimpse into the grief and fear that remained with the couple after losing their daughter, and how that painful experience shaped their parenting when Yashvardhan was born years later.
