NEW DELHI: In the decade-old proceedings for expediting trials in criminal case against sitting/former MPs/MLAs, amicus curiae and senior advocate Vijay Hansaria has informed the Supreme Court that there are serious criminal cases against chief ministers of 14 of the 28 states, a list topped by Telangana’s A Revanth Reddy who faces 89 cases.West Bengal’s Suvendu Adhikari has 29 cases, Karnataka CM D Shivakumar 19, Andhra Pradesh CM N Chandrababu Naidu 19, Kerala CM V D Satheesan 18 cases, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren 5, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis 4, Himachal CM Sukhvinder Singh 4, TN CM C Joseph Vijay 2, Bihar CM Samrat Choudhary 2, and one each against other four – P S Tamang (Sikkim), Bhagwant Mann (Punjab), Mohan Charan Majhi (Odisha) and Bhajan Lal Sharma (Rajasthan).The maximum percentage of MLAs having serious criminal cases belong to Bengal – 170 out of 292 (58%). It is followed by Kerala 57%, Andhra Pradesh 56%, Telangana 49%, Jharkhand and Odisha 45% each, Bihar 42%.
