Yash on wife Radhika Pandit's reaction to his bold scenes in 'Toxic', feels every partner will be uncomfortable: 'She trusts me'

Yash recently opened up about how his wife, Radhika Pandit, reacted to the intimate scenes featured in his much-anticipated film ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups.’ While he acknowledged that watching such scenes could make any spouse a little uneasy, he noted that Radhika fully grasps the distinction between him and the character he’s playing, and trusts him completely as an actor. His remarks come in the wake of the ‘Toxic’ trailer, which sparked considerable buzz for its bold, intimate moments involving Yash and the rest of the cast.

Yash says every partner would feel uncomfortable, but calls it important craft

Speaking to Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adalat, Yash didn’t shy away from admitting that he wouldn’t claim his wife is entirely at ease watching him in such scenes, saying plainly that “every partner will be uncomfortable” and that he had no intention of pretending otherwise. He went on to explain, “I think every partner will be uncomfortable. I don’t want to lie. Har partner ko hoti hai, lekin I think by the end of the day we have to understand that it’s a craft, it’s an art, and what we are trying to achieve with this is very, very important. Kuch cheezein — log jo maante hain, uske liye karte hain, kuch cheezein log jo jaante hain uske liye karte hain, kuch cheezein isliye karte hain ki agle generation mein bhi usko leke, reference leke kuch seekhte hain. So, some things have to be recorded and I feel this story is important.”

Yash says the scenes pushed him out of his comfort zone too

Yash also opened up about how filming the intimate and sex scenes pushed him well outside his comfort zone, admitting it wasn’t easy for him to do these kinds of scenes. “I also have come out of my comfort zone. It’s not easy for me to do these things. But that story demands, and it is an important aspect of the story, so of course she is, she will not be happy, but it doesn’t mean she is upset or anything because she trusts me. The most important thing is, she is also an actor, she understands it’s a job. And when I am performing there, it’s an actor who is doing it, it’s not her husband.”

The movie boasts a strong female-led ensemble, featuring Kiara Advani, Nayanthara, Huma Qureshi, Tara Sutaria, and Rukmini Vasanth, and its bold scenes have emerged as one of the most-discussed aspects ahead of release. In ‘Toxic: A Fairy Tale for Grown-Ups,’ Yash takes on a dual role as a gangster, with the film directed by Geetu Mohandas, who also co-wrote it alongside him. The project marks Yash’s comeback to the big screen following ‘KGF: Chapter 2,’ which hit theatres in 2022.
