8 questions to ask a guy to know if he really likes you
Sometimes, the hardest part of liking someone is not knowing where you stand with them.He texts you regularly. He remembers the little things you said weeks ago. He finds reasons to meet you. And then, just when you start thinking, okay, maybe he actually likes me, he becomes difficult to read again.Sound familiar? The problem is that attraction does not always look the same. Some people are naturally expressive, while others take time to open up. And while you can spend hours analysing a text, a better way to understand someone’s intentions is often to simply ask the right questions. That does not mean turning a casual conversation into an interview. The idea is to ask questions that naturally open up a conversation and give you a sense of how he sees you, relationships and the possibility of something more. Here are eight questions that can help you understand whether his interest is actually going somewhere.
1. “What are you looking for right now?”
This may sound like a serious question, but it can save you a lot of confusion. If he is looking for a relationship and is genuinely interested in getting to know you, he is more likely to be clear about it. If he says he is not looking for anything serious, believe him instead of hoping your connection will magically change his mind. There is no right or wrong answer here. The important part is whether what he wants matches what you want.
2. “What made you want to keep talking to me?”
This one can tell you more than a simple “Do you like me?”Give him a chance to explain what caught his attention. Maybe it was your sense of humour, the way you talk, your shared interests or simply how comfortable he feels around you.Listen to how he answers. A thoughtful answer usually shows that he has actually noticed things about you rather than being interested only because he finds you attractive.
3. “What do you like about spending time with me?”
There is a difference between liking someone’s company and simply enjoying their attention. His answer can show whether he values the person you are. Does he mention your conversations, your personality, your little habits or the way you make him feel? Or does the answer stay completely focused on flirting and physical attraction?Neither attraction nor chemistry is a bad thing. But if you are trying to understand whether there is something deeper, his answer can offer a useful clue.
4. “Do you usually make time for someone you like?”
This is a slightly indirect way of asking an important question: Would you make space for me in your life?Someone can be busy. Everyone has work, friends, family and their own routine. But genuine interest usually shows up in some form of effort. You do not need him to text you every hour or cancel his plans for you. What matters is whether he tries to stay connected, makes plans and follows through on them. And if his answer is very different from his actual behaviour, pay attention to the behaviour.
5. “What makes you feel close to someone?”
This question can take the conversation somewhere more personal without making it unnecessarily intense. His answer may tell you what emotional connection means to him. Perhaps he values long conversations, spending time together, being able to be himself or having someone who remembers the small things. It can also help you understand whether the connection between you is developing beyond flirting.
6. “When you really like someone, how do you show it?”
This is one of those questions that sounds casual but can reveal quite a bit.People express interest differently. One person might text constantly. Another may show it by making plans, checking in after a difficult day or remembering something important to you.Once you know how he believes he shows interest, you can compare that answer with what he actually does.Because sometimes, the answer is right in front of you. You just need to know what you are looking for.
7. “What do you think makes two people work well together?”
Now you are getting into compatibility. His answer can reveal what he values in a relationship. Does he talk about communication, trust, humour, respect and effort? Or does he only describe a physical connection or a vague idea of having someone around? You may also discover whether your ideas about relationships are compatible. And honestly, that can be more important than finding out whether he has a crush on you.
8. “Can you see this becoming something more?”
If the connection has been going on for a while and you are tired of decoding mixed signals, sometimes the most useful question is also the most direct one.You do not have to make it dramatic. You can ask it during a normal conversation when it feels right. His response may not be the answer you were hoping for.
