The makers unveiled actor Siddharth Bodke’s first look from Hansal Mehta’s upcoming series ‘Scam 2010’ on Wednesday, August 12, 2026. Backed by Birla Studios and Applause Entertainment, the show is currently under production and will soon premiere on OTT.

Hansal Mehta returns for the third instalment of the franchise

Hansal Mehta helms the third instalment of the franchise, having previously directed ‘Scam 1992’ and served as showrunner on ‘Scam 2003’. The upcoming series will trace the journey of the late, controversial businessman Subrata Roy, founder of the Sahara Group, and is adapted from Tamal Bandyopadhyay’s book, Sahara: The Untold Story.

Hansal Mehta on Scam 2010’s story of ambition

As reported in The Hindu, Hansal stated, “Scam 2010 is a story about ambition, influence and the arrogance that follows both. It looks at how one of India’s largest business empires was built on belief — and what happened when that belief ran out. It tells the fascinating story of the rise of an empire and the man who mistook it for invincibility.”

Siddharth Bodke on playing the show’s complex lead

Siddharth, who plays the lead, said, “What floored me was the complexity of the lead’s personality and the scale of the show. His passion, power, flaws, rise and eventual downfall make him an incredibly fascinating character to portray. The experience has been nothing short of thrilling for me, and I have relished the opportunity to play such a layered character under the guidance of someone like Hansal Mehta.”

Who was Subrata Roy?

Subrata Roy founded the Sahara India Pariwar conglomerate in 1978 and later came under investigation by the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) for allegedly raising over Rs 24,000 crore from investors unlawfully, a dispute that turned into a high-profile legal battle. In 2014, he was arrested for skipping a Supreme Court appearance in a contempt case tied to the non-refund of investor dues, and subsequently spent time in Tihar Jail before securing release on parole. He passed away in November 2023 at the age of 75, following a prolonged battle with health issues.
