A note, 5-star hotel, an affair: What led Bengaluru man to kill his 2 daughters
BENGALURU: A 40-year-old man allegedly killed his two minor daughters before attempting suicide at a five-star hotel near Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) in Bengaluru on Monday, police said.The girls, Shaik Zehara, 5, and Shaik Zoya, 10, were found dead inside a fourth-floor hotel room. Their father, S G Imran, was found unconscious with a cut to his throat and was taken to a private hospital, where he remains under treatment.
Father found injured after alleged killings
Police said Imran, a resident of Bilalnagar near Nagavara Main Road in north Bengaluru, allegedly strangled his daughters before attempting suicide.A note recovered from the hotel room is suspected to have been written by Imran. It referred to a marital dispute and accused his wife of having an extra-marital affair.“I am fed up with life due to the extra-marital affair of my wife. I have evidence to prove her affair. She has hurt me. I am taking my daughters with me,” it read.
What happened inside the hotel?
Imran, who works as a manager with a private cab company, checked into the hotel at around 7.30pm on Sunday, police said.Hotel staff said he told them he was expecting a guest from Dubai after midnight.Imran did not check out the following afternoon. Housekeeping staff knocked on his door at around 12.30pm but received no response. They tried again at about 4.30pm, but there was still no response, police said.At around 5.30pm, the hotel manager opened the door using a duplicate key and found the two children lying dead near the bed. Imran was found near the sofa with his throat slit.Police alerted after hotel staff raise alarmThe three were rushed to a nearby private hospital, where doctors declared the two girls dead on arrival. Imran was admitted for treatment.Mithun Kumar GK, deputy commissioner of police, north-east division, said the hotel’s security manager informed police about the incident in the evening.
Investigation under way
Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the deaths and the alleged marital dispute mentioned in the note.They are also examining the note recovered from the room and other evidence from the hotel as part of the investigation.
