Man yells at woman for sleeping on seat, whips out belt to hit her in Mumbai local
MUMBAI: A viral video of a Western Railway local train compartment has captured a man hurling expletives at a woman commuter and taking out his trouser belt in a bid to hurt her. Andheri GRP said they are in the process of registering an FIR and are trying to track down the commuter.The incident occurred in a second class general compartment of a WR local. Fellow travelers witnessed the ruckus but did nothing to intervene. One of the travelers filmed the incident where a male traveller could be seen yelling at a woman for having slept on a train seat.There was sufficient seating space in the train but the man kept hurling abuses at the woman for sleeping on the seat. After an altercation, he walked away. When the woman warned him against raising his voice, the male commuter returned. He took out his trouser belt in a bid to hurt her. He continued to hurl abuses at her.Police said they have identified the male commuter on the basis of the video clip and CCTV footage at railway stations. They are scanning CCTV footage to find out the route he took and are confident he will be arrested soon.In Jan, a college teacher, Alok Kumar Singh, had been murdered by a co-traveler, Omkar Shinde, over a trivial fight about alighting at Malad station. In June, a 21-year-old employee of a clothing retail outlet, Mayank Lohar, was murdered by a co-traveler, Roshan Suvarna, over a fight about shutting the compartment door amid heavy rain.
