Justice MS Liberhan (Picture from Haryana govt website) NEW DELHI: Justice Manmohan Singh Liberhan, who headed the one-man commission that investigated the circumstances leading to the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, died on Sunday at the age of 87.Punjab and Haryana high court bar association President Rohit Sud confirmed his death, saying Justice Liberhan passed away in Chandigarh. His last rites will be held on Monday.Justice Liberhan began practising law at the Punjab and Haryana high court in 1964. He was elected to the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council in August 1970 and remained a member until February 11, 1987. NEW DELHI: Justice Manmohan Singh Liberhan, who headed the one-man commission that investigated the circumstances leading to the demolition of the Babri Masjid in Ayodhya, died on Sunday at the age of 87.Punjab and Haryana high court bar association President Rohit Sud confirmed his death, saying Justice Liberhan passed away in Chandigarh. His last rites will be held on Monday.Justice Liberhan began practising law at the Punjab and Haryana high court in 1964. He was elected to the Punjab and Haryana Bar Council in August 1970 and remained a member until February 11, 1987. During this period, he also served as the Bar Council’s secretary from January 1976 to June 1983.

The party has alleged that ethanol-blended fuel is adversely affecting vehicle owners.Addressing supporters before the march, Kejriwal said the party wanted the government to hear the concerns of people affected by the policy.”We are going to the Prime Minister’s residence with over 2.30 lakh petitions signed by people from across the country. We want the government to listen to the concerns of crores of vehicle owners who are facing problems because of E20 petrol,” he said.”People are asking why the government is forcing E20 petrol despite complaints from vehicle owners. We only want people to have the choice of buying pure petrol and E20, and if E20 is being promoted, it should be sold at a lower price,” he said.AAP has been campaigning against E20 petrol in recent weeks, holding an “Ethanol Town Hall” and launching a nationwide signature campaign. Kejriwal had also written to Prime Minister Modi seeking an appointment to discuss concerns over ethanol-blended fuel.BJP criticised Kejriwal’s protest, accusing him of opposing the interests of farmers and trying to revive his political fortunes. BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh described the protest as politically motivated.”Arvind Kejriwal’s march is absurd, irresponsible and meaningless. Everything has been done in a scientific manner. Section 352, BNS – Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace. Section 79, BNS – Insulting the modesty of a woman. Section 296(b), BNS – Using obscene words in a public place. Section 61, BNS – Criminal conspiracy. Section 351(2), BNS – Criminal intimidation. Section 4, Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (Amendment) Act, 2002 – Harassment of women. Section 67, Information Technology Act – Publishing or transmitting allegedly objectionable material electronically. The detention triggered protests by DMK workers across Tamil Nadu, with reports of road blockades in several districts. DMK president MK Stalin convened an emergency meeting of party leaders ahead of the Assembly session, while party sources said the Madras High Court had been approached for anticipatory bail.Meanwhile, TVK has also escalated the matter by filing a complaint with the National Commission for Women, seeking action against Udhayanidhi and demanding an unconditional public apology. According to the complaint, police have booked Udhayanidhi under the following provisions, as reported by ANI:Section 196, BNS – Promoting enmity between groups. Section 192, BNS – Provoking a riot. Section 352, BNS – Intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of peace. Section 79, BNS – Insulting the modesty of a woman. Section 296(b), BNS – Using obscene words in a public place. Section 61, BNS – Criminal conspiracy. Section 351(2), BNS – Criminal intimidation. Section 4, Tamil Nadu Prohibition of Harassment of Women (Amendment) Act, 2002 – Harassment of women. Section 67, Information Technology Act – Publishing or transmitting allegedly objectionable material electronically. The detention triggered protests by DMK workers across Tamil Nadu, with reports of road blockades in several districts. DMK president MK Stalin convened an emergency meeting of party leaders ahead of the Assembly session, while party sources said the Madras High Court had been approached for anticipatory bail.Meanwhile, TVK has also escalated the matter by filing a complaint with the National Commission for Women, seeking action against Udhayanidhi and demanding an unconditional public apology.
