So much of what made the decision so difficult was that if I didn’t submit to a surrogacy, then I was convinced I needed to let Dwyane go.”The popular actress added, “Even if he didn’t want to, I had to let him find someone who could give him what he wanted.”In 2017, after years of experiencing multiple miscarriages, Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union decided to choose surrogacy as a way to expand their family.While their dream of finally becoming parents was coming true, the renowned actress experienced grief as she saw the surrogate getting pregnant.The “Being Mary Jane” alum said, “This growing bump that everyone thought I wanted to see was now a visual manifestation of my failure…”Gabrielle Union added, “I smiled, wanting to show I — we — were so happy and grateful. But part of me felt more worthless.”The popular actress continued, “It was grief..I’d had so many miscarriages … looking at the screen, I understood how many potential babies I had lost. That’s why I was crying.”While the process clearly seemed pretty traumatic for the renowned actress, Gabrielle Union, she and Dwyane Wade welcomed their only child together, Kaavia Wade in 2018.
