CWG 2026: Complete schedule, timings and medal events as India eye medals on 28th July, Tuesday

India enjoyed its best day yet at this edition of the Commonwealth Games on Monday, winning six medals to take its overall tally to 10. The Indian contingent will look to carry the momentum into Tuesday (July 28) with several medal hopefuls and crucial knockout contests lined up across weightlifting, boxing, athletics and swimming.The day’s action begins in the swimming pool, where Sajan Prakash will compete in the men’s 50m butterfly heats, while Srihari Nataraj will be in action in the 100m backstroke heats. Both swimmers will aim to book their places in the evening semifinals. India will also have representation in athletics as Vishal TK and Rajesh Ramesh compete in the men’s 400m heats, hoping to progress to the next round.

Weightlifters target podium finishes

India’s biggest medal hopes on Tuesday rest with Nirupama Devi Seram and Harjinder Kaur, who will compete in the women’s 63kg and women’s 69kg weightlifting finals respectively.Fresh off Bindyarani Devi’s bronze medal-winning performance, the Indian weightlifting team will be eager to continue its strong run at the Games.

Boxers eye semifinal spots

The boxing ring will witness a busy day for India with five quarterfinal bouts scheduled. Preeti Pawar opens India’s campaign against Nicole Clyde of Northern Ireland in the women’s 54kg category. She will be followed by Priya Ghanghas, who faces Scotland’s Niamh Mitchell in the women’s 60kg division.Later in the evening, Parveen Hooda takes on England’s Sacha Hickey in the women’s 65kg quarterfinal, while Jadumani Singh faces Mwengo Mwale of Zambia in the men’s 55kg event. Kapil Pokhariya will conclude India’s boxing schedule with a quarterfinal clash against Scotland’s Robert McNulty in the men’s 90kg category.A victory in any of these bouts will guarantee at least a bronze medal by securing a place in the semifinals.

Athletics and para swimming medal opportunities

India will also be in medal contention in athletics as Pooja Singh competes in the women’s high jump final, while long-distance runner Gulveer Singh will challenge for honours in the men’s 10,000m final.In para swimming, Karthik Budigina and Ali Imam will first compete in the men’s 50m freestyle S13 heats before returning later in the day for the final if they qualify.
