‘Dhurandhar’ actress Ayesha Khan DETAINED during Mumbai student protest; shares video saying 'I was just standing on the road'
‘Dhurandhar’ actress Ayesha Khan revealed she was detained by Mumbai Police on July 22 for standing on the road near the Jantar Mantar-inspired CJP protest. She shared videos from inside the police van, questioning the lack of explanation. Ayesha had earlier urged paparazzi and media to cover the Delhi protest.

Ayesha Khan, who features in ‘Dhurandhar’ and had earlier spoken in support of the ongoing Jantar Mantar protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party and other youth of the country, took to her Instagram handle to share that she was detained by the Mumbai Police on July 22 for allegedly just ‘standing on the road’.

The actress posted a video of herself sitting in a police van, saying, “My hands are shivering right now. I have been detained in a police van for just standing on the road peacefully. I didn’t say a word. I didn’t even start the protest. I was just standing because my brother and my male friends were detained.”

She then turned the camera around to show how many others had been detained by the Mumbai Police, saying, “Everyone is in the van with no explanation. Koi answer nahi hai kisike pass. Mene toh kuch bola hi nahi. I was just standing on the road and I was pulled and pushed by 4 to 5 women, left, right, centre, just for standing on the road.”

Ayesha Khan questions lack of accountability

In another story, she posted pictures of police officers along with the caption, “Been detained for standing peacefully on the road. #AccountabilityWhere?”. In a separate video, a voice in the background (likely Ayesha’s) can be heard asking the cops where they were being taken, but the police avoided giving a response. Sharing this post, Ayesha captioned it, “No answers!! God knows where are we going?”.

Ayesha Khan resists as police push her into van

Another video captures several police officers pushing Ayesha into the van as she keeps resisting. Sharing the same visuals from a different angle in another story, Ayesha wrote, “Unfortunately, it took 4 police women to pull me in. But I ask the same question again, why? Did I make a noise? Did I even start a conversation? Detained me for what? For standing on the road? Wasn’t even in the group of 5!”.

‘We are so lost in glamour’

Earlier, Ayesha had appealed to popular paparazzi accounts and media pages to shine more light on the ongoing CJP protest in Delhi. “…It’s so unfortunate that I had no idea about this too. We are so lost in glamour, beauty, and controversies that we often end up being avoidant of the things that actually need our attention,” she said.
