NEW DELHI: The Centre on Wednesday appointed Anurag Jain, a 1989-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer from the Madhya Pradesh cadre, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NITI Aayog, the government’s apex public policy think tank.The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC) has approved Jain’s appointment as CEO of NITI Aayog, effective from the date he assumes charge of the post, according to an official statement.The statement said Jain will continue in the role for two years thereafter, or until further orders, whichever is earlier.

Choudhary escaped unhurt, but his vehicle was damaged.Vehicular movement on Jammu-Srinagar NH was suspended following multiple landslides as relentless rainfall battered Jammu region for the fourth day, triggering landslides, mudslides and shooting stones at nearly a dozen places between Udhampur and Banihal.IMD predicted moderate to heavy rains till Thursday evening. “Commuters are advised not to undertake any journey on the highway until the weather improves, and the road is declared safe for traffic,” an official said, adding that clearance agencies were removing debris.Rajouri Police issued an advisory, stating that water levels in rivers had begun to rise again. “Everyone is requested to vacate riverbanks and vulnerable areas immediately and stay alert,” it said.All major pilgrimages — including Amarnath Yatra, Vaishno Devi Yatra, and Machail Mata yatra — have remained suspended in J&K since July 19.Get the latest India News and Live updates.
