NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police constable allegedly shot dead his wife in East Delhi’s Kalyanpuri on Sunday following a domestic dispute, police said. Preliminary investigation has revealed that the couple had been facing frequent marital discord and often argued over personal issues.According to police, the incident occurred after another argument broke out between the couple on Sunday. Sources said the two left their house together on a scooter, but the dispute continued while they were on their way.Investigators have recovered CCTV footage that allegedly captures the couple stopping their scooter on the roadside before getting off and engaging in a heated argument.“The CCTV footage shows the couple stopping their scooter and stepping off the vehicle. They appeared to be arguing when the constable allegedly took out his service pistol and shot his wife,” sources said.After the incident, the accused allegedly fled from the spot. Police teams have launched a search operation and are examining CCTV footage from the area and along the possible escape route to trace his movements and establish the sequence of events.Sources said the accused constable was posted with the Anti-Theft Squad of the East district. Police are also questioning family members and other persons known to the couple as part of the investigation to ascertain the circumstances that led to the killing.A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
