‘Avengers: Doomsday’: First look at Robert Downey Jr. ‘s Doctor Doom mask revealed in a new concept art
The first clear look at Robert Downey Jr. ‘s Doctor Doom mask has been revealed through concept art shared by a longtime member of the creative team. Former visual department director Andy Park posted an illustration from the upcoming blockbuster on social media on July 11, providing fans their first glimpse of several major characters for the highly anticipated film.“AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY – the final full film I had the honour of leading as Director of Visual Development at Marvel Studios. This illustration commemorates that journey & reveals the characters & their looks for the first time. #AvengersDoomsday,” Park wrote on the social media platform, marking a significant moment in the film’s promotional rollout.
First looks at returning X-Men characters
The illustration also includes the first promotional looks at several returning characters from the X-Men franchise who had not previously appeared in promotional material for the upcoming film. These include Nightcrawler, portrayed by Alan Cumming, Beast, played by Kelsey Grammer, and Mystique, portrayed by Rebecca Romijn. The concept art also features a mysterious image of Loki, played by Tom Hiddleston, positioned at the centre of the illustration.
Andy Park’s departure from the studio
Andy Park shared this artwork following his departure from the creative team earlier this year. The visual department director was part of significant layoffs that took place in April. He announced his departure on social media at that time, reflecting on his extensive tenure with the organisation. “Marvel Studios Visual Development: 2010–2026. End of an era. I was there at the start of a team that broke the mold. 16 years, 40+ films, and 15 films led as Director of Visual Development; I couldn’t be prouder of the history we made,” he wrote, commemorating his time with the studio.

‘Avengers: Doomsday’ appears poised to be the studio’s most ambitious project to date, featuring an extraordinarily large ensemble of superheroes portrayed by established franchise performers. According to Collider, ‘Avengers: Endgame’ is set to re-release in theatres on September 25, 2026, reportedly under the title ‘Avengers: Endgame Encore’, as part of the promotional campaign for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’. The re-release is expected to feature a custom introduction and additional footage exclusive to select premium theatre formats, building excitement ahead of the Russo Brothers’ return to the franchise.‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is scheduled to release in theatres on December 18, 2026.
