Court grants bail to woman accused in TCS Nashik sexual harassment, conversion case A local court has granted bail to the woman accused in the alleged sexual harassment and religious conversion case at Tata Consultancy Services’ (TCS) branch in Nashik.Additional Sessions Judge K G Joshi of the Nashik Road Court granted bail to the main accused in the case but denied the same relief to the co-accused, as cited by PTI.Represented by advocate Rahul Kasliwal, the woman sought bail primarily on the grounds of her pregnancy.Public Prosecutor Vijay Gaikwad, along with the victim’s counsel Milind Kurkute and Nitin Pandit, opposed the bail applications of both accused.The prosecution argued that evidence of alleged sexual assault and religious coercion emerged during the investigation.It submitted that one of the accused had given the victim, a co-worker, an Islamic book and a burqa with the intention of converting her to Islam.The prosecution further argued that these actions indicated the victim was allegedly subjected to sexual exploitation and attempts were made to convert her.It also alleged that the accused attempted to convert the victim despite knowing that she belonged to a Scheduled Caste.The case relates to an FIR registered at the Deolali Camp police station under Sections 69 (sexual intercourse by employing deceitful means), 65 (sexual harassment) and 299 (outraging religious feelings) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).The two accused have also been booked under relevant provisions of the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.A Special Investigation Team of the Nashik Police is investigating nine cases linked to allegations of exploitation, attempted forced religious conversion, outraging religious sentiments, molestation and mental harassment of female employees at the TCS unit in the city.According to the Nashik City Police, the complaint alleged that a Hindu woman in her early 20s had begun following Islamic practices under the influence of colleagues at her workplace.Get the latest India news and live updates. Krishna Mohan takes charge as interim Ram Mandir Trust general secretary after Champat Rai steps down NEW DELHI: Krishna Mohan has been appointed interim general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, replacing Champat Rai after the Trust accepted his resignation on Monday.Champat Rai stepped down citing moral responsibility amid the ongoing controversy over the alleged embezzlement of donations made to the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Trustee Anil Mishra’s resignation was also accepted during the Trust’s meeting.Speaking to reporters after being appointed interim general secretary Krishna Mohan said he had been entrusted with the responsibility until a permanent appointment is made. He also said the Trust would ensure strict action against anyone found guilty in the alleged donation embezzlement case.”I have been entrusted with the responsibility of discharging the duties of General Secretary in an acting capacity until a new General Secretary is appointed. Anyone found guilty in this matter, we will insist and remain firm in our insistence that they receive appropriate punishment in accordance with justice,” he said.”We are all deeply pained by the events that have transpired; everyone has suffered, including the devotees of Ram. There were certain shortcomings in management and operations that were exploited by others. Therefore, my primary endeavour will be to plug these loopholes and rectify errors. I will make every effort to ensure that such incidents do not recur in the future,” he added.He added that the controversy had affected the Trust’s public image and said efforts would be made to restore people’s confidence.”The prevailing atmosphere has somewhat tarnished the image of our Trust, giving rise to a sense of mistrust within society. Champat Rai, Anil Mishra’s resignation accepted by the Ram temple trust NEW DELHI: Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust on Monday accepted the resignation of Champat Rai from the post of general secretary and trustee Anil Mishra amid the donation theft row, said the trust treasurer Swami Govind Dev Giri Ji Maharaj. Krishna Mohan has been entrusted with additional duties as interim general secretary of the trust.”Champat Rai, serving as general secretary, was deeply pained; he felt it inappropriate to continue in his role until justice is fully served—meaning the culprits are apprehended and receive appropriate punishment. Driven by this sentiment, he tendered his resignation—a matter that was not ours to simply accept or reject. K Parasaran raised a significant point: under the Trust’s constitution, a resignation is deemed accepted the moment it is submitted,” he said.Trustees Champat Rai and Anil Mishra stepped down last month, saying they were taking moral responsibility amid allegations of misappropriation of donations made to the temple.The controversy centres on allegations that donations made to the Ram Temple were siphoned off by individuals associated with the temple’s management. A SIT constituted on June 13 to probe the alleged theft, submitted its preliminary report to the Uttar Pradesh government on June 23. The findings formed the basis of an FIR and the arrest of eight people named in the case.Investigators also recovered deleted CCTV footage that allegedly shows some of the accused concealing currency notes while removing them from the temple premises. Although no FIR has been registered against former general secretary, Champat Rai, ex-trustee Anil Mishra and special invitee Gopal Rao, lawyers from the Faizabad Bar Association in Ayodhya have filed a written police complaint seeking criminal proceedings against them.Get the latest India news and live updates.
