Priyamani hopes ‘G.D.N’ will introduce G.D. Naidu’s legacy to new generation; talks about her character
Actress Priyamani will be next seen in the upcoming biographical period drama, ‘G.D.N’ starring R Madhavan. She will be seen playing the female lead in the film directed by Krishnakumar Ramkumar which is about the legendary inventor G.D. Naidu.As per Cinema Express, speaking at the film’s launch event, Priyamani said she hopes the movie will help more people learn about the life and achievements of G.D. Naidu. She believes the film will also encourage young people to think differently and come up with new ideas.
Priyamani talks about her role
Priyamani plays the role of Chellammal in the film but said she cannot reveal many details about her character yet. She said, “I can’t reveal much about my role right now. But I can tell you one thing—my character’s name is Chellammal. Once the film releases, you’ll understand what kind of woman she was during that period.”
Priyamani hopes ‘G.D.N’ reaches everyone
The actress said the film could become an eye-opener for many people. She said, “I think it will be an eye-opener for everyone because many people still don’t know who G.D. Naidu was. When you mention his name, the first reaction is usually, ‘Who is GD Naidu? What did he do?’ I’m hoping that after watching this film, people will proudly say, ‘Now we know who G.D. Naidu is.’ It will be a proud moment for all of us to realise that India had such a visionary. I believe this film will be valuable for everyone.”Priyamani also praised the G.D. Naidu innovation contest held as part of the film’s promotions. She said the large number of entries showed that many young people are interested in innovation and added that this is only the beginning.
Priyamani encourages young people
During the event, the ‘Jawan’ actress encouraged youngsters to never lose hope when facing difficulties. She also spoke about learning the story of G.D. Naidu while working on the film. She said it made her feel proud that India had such a visionary during the pre-Independence period.It is scheduled to release in theatres on July 17 in Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, Kannada and Hindi.
