Image credit: PTI LUCKNOW: Lucknow Airport will launch a direct flight service between Lucknow and Noida from Monday, enhancing air connectivity within Uttar Pradesh and providing faster travel options for passengers between the two cities.The inaugural flight on the route is scheduled to operate on Monday morning, while regular commercial services will begin from July 1.According to the flight schedule, IndiGo flight 6E 2278 will depart from Lucknow at 7.05 am and arrive in Noida at 8.05 am. LUCKNOW: Lucknow Airport will launch a direct flight service between Lucknow and Noida from Monday, enhancing air connectivity within Uttar Pradesh and providing faster travel options for passengers between the two cities.The inaugural flight on the route is scheduled to operate on Monday morning, while regular commercial services will begin from July 1.According to the flight schedule, IndiGo flight 6E 2278 will depart from Lucknow at 7.05 am and arrive in Noida at 8.05 am. While the Rules deal with licensing of nuclear and related activities, the Regulations set out detailed safety requirements at different stages of a facility’s life.The Sustainable Harnessing and Advancement of Nuclear Energy for Transforming India (SHANTI) Act, enacted in Dec last year, replaced the Atomic Energy Act of 1962 and Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage Act of 2010, providing a new framework for safety, licensing and liability in the nuclear sector.India has set a target of 100 GW of nuclear capacity by 2047, from 8.8 GW currently. The government has also targeted around 22 GW by 2031-32 as part of its Nuclear Energy Mission.Under the proposed Rules, prospective operators can seek an “in-principle approval” even before selecting a site or technology, allowing them to negotiate with reactor technology vendors and acquire land and other infrastructure. The approval would not amount to a final licence and can be revoked on grounds including public interest, national security, public health and safety, or misrepresentation or suppression of material facts.The rules also allow a single composite licence for building, owning, operating and decommissioning nuclear plants. The licence can cover electricity generation, captive generation, hydrogen production, research and other peaceful applications, with captive nuclear power specifically recognised for energy-intensive industries, data centres, semiconductor manufacturing and AI applications.For reactors based on foreign designs, the Rules require the design to be approved or certified by the regulatory authority in the country of origin and the reactor to be operational either there or in another foreign country. The country of origin must have a self-reliant nuclear reactor design and supply-chain ecosystem and globally trusted regulatory approvals.The rules require the licensee to obtain design approval and safety authorisation from the Atomic Energy Regulatory Board (AERB) for siting, construction, commissioning, operation and decommissioning. BJP MLA Sumitro Chatterjee, a descendant of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi over ‘Vande Matram’ row NEW DELHI: The row over the full rendition of Vande Mataram at the Congress headquarters on Independence Day acquired a Bankim Chandra connection on, with BJP’s Naihati MLA Sumitro Chatterjee, a direct descendant of the national song’s author, writing to Sonia Gandhi on Saturday and demanding an unconditional apology to the country, particularly West Bengal.The controversy erupted after a video from the Congress’s August 15 function showed Sonia gesturing and speaking to party president Mallikarjun Kharge while the full version of Vande Mataram was being sung. BJP leaders alleged she was trying to have the rendition stopped after the opening stanzas. Congress rejected the charge, saying Sonia was only asking that a chair be brought for Kharge, who had been standing for some time.In his letter in Hindi, Chatterjee said the episode had left him with “deep pain, emptiness and anguish”, alleging that Sonia’s “physical gestures” reflected “unease, impatience and repeated attempts to stop” the song. BJP MLA Sumitro Chatterjee, a descendant of Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay, demanded an apology from Sonia Gandhi over ‘Vande Matram’ row NEW DELHI: The row over the full rendition of Vande Mataram at the Congress headquarters on Independence Day acquired a Bankim Chandra connection on, with BJP’s Naihati MLA Sumitro Chatterjee, a direct descendant of the national song’s author, writing to Sonia Gandhi on Saturday and demanding an unconditional apology to the country, particularly West Bengal.The controversy erupted after a video from the Congress’s August 15 function showed Sonia gesturing and speaking to party president Mallikarjun Kharge while the full version of Vande Mataram was being sung. BJP leaders alleged she was trying to have the rendition stopped after the opening stanzas. Congress rejected the charge, saying Sonia was only asking that a chair be brought for Kharge, who had been standing for some time.In his letter in Hindi, Chatterjee said the episode had left him with “deep pain, emptiness and anguish”, alleging that Sonia’s “physical gestures” reflected “unease, impatience and repeated attempts to stop” the song. CJP claims that three sets of questions by DMK MP Matheswaran V.S. were disallowed in the LS under Rule 41(2) NEW DELHI: Cockroach Janta Party chief spokesperson, Saurav Das, has claimed that three sets of questions concerning the CJP-led youth protests were disallowed during the recently concluded Monsoon Session of Parliament.In a post on X, Das said Lok Sabha MP Matheswaran V.S. of the DMK had submitted three sets of questions to the Union home ministry and the Union education ministry. Jawaharlal Nehru University vice chancellor Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit has rejected allegations of irregularities in faculty recruitment and promotions, describing the accusations as “propaganda”.The response came after the JNU Students’ Union and JNU Teachers’ Association sought her removal and demanded an independent, time-bound inquiry into alleged violations in the university’s recruitment and promotion processes.”Despite the most transparent, record recruitments, especially of the SC/ST and the OBC in the university in the last four and a half years of my term as VC, I have been made the target of a vicious campaign by the JNUSU and JNUTA. No evidence, only fake propaganda,” Pandit said in a statement.JNU administration defends recruitment processThe university administration said more than 400 faculty interviews had been conducted and over 200 positions filled since February 2022. It claimed that nearly 70 per cent of those appointed belonged to reserved and marginalised categories.The administration also said it had received no complaints from candidates about the interview process.According to the university, selection committees include three domain experts, a nominee of the Visitor, the concerned dean and the vice chancellor. The Academic Council then approves the candidates selected by the committee.JNU said its Internal Quality Assurance Cell checks candidates’ qualifications and publication claims during the screening process, but does not take part in the final selection through interviews.The administration said publication verification can be particularly complicated in humanities and social sciences because of differences in databases and verification systems. It said this could explain cases where some candidates shortlisted by centres did not eventually reach the interview stage, while others who were initially not selected were later called for interviews.Students, teachers raise UGC concernsThe JNUSU has alleged that recent media reports raised questions over candidates being brought back into the selection process despite subject experts rejecting them for allegedly failing to meet mandatory University Grants Commission eligibility requirements.The JNUTA, in a separate charter of demands issued on Thursday, claimed that an investigation based on RTI replies, official records and dissent notes of the Executive Council had found that at least seven faculty members were appointed in violation of UGC norms.The university has rejected these allegations and maintained that the recruitment process followed established procedures.University rejects concerns over promotions and linksOn faculty promotions, JNU said nearly 250 applications under the Career Advancement Scheme had been processed since February 2022. This included applications that had remained pending since 2006, which the administration described as the highest number of CAS promotions since the university was established.The administration also dismissed concerns about familial or supervisory connections in appointments. This included applications that had remained pending since 2006, which the administration described as the highest number of CAS promotions since the university was established.The administration also dismissed concerns about familial or supervisory connections in appointments.
