Viral clip from Pranit More’s stand-up and the backlash
The controversy erupted after a clip from Pranit More’s comedy show went viral, featuring audience member Himanshu Jangra stating that spending Rs 370 on chicken biryani for a woman entitled him to a “return” on the investment. The remark drew widespread criticism online for its misogynistic undertones. More, who had laughed at the comment during the live show, subsequently faced heavy backlash from audiences and public figures alike.
Pranit More’s public apology

He acknowledged that the audience member’s comments did not represent his views and admitted to a failure of judgement in the moment.“I’ve seen the criticism regarding a recent crowdwork clip. The comments made by the audience member do not reflect my views. Looking back, I should have challenged the remark instead of laughing and moving on. That was a lapse in judgement on my part,” he wrote. He also confirmed the video had been removed from all platforms to avoid amplifying or normalising such views and thanked those who raised concerns respectfully. As the controversy continued to intensify, More appeared to have deactivated his Instagram account.
