A Lucknow-based woman doctor, Shaheen, was arrested for alleged involvement in a terror module spanning Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh. NEW DELHI: A woman doctor from Lucknow was arrested on Monday for her alleged involvement in a terror module operating across Jammu and Kashmir, Haryana and Uttar Pradesh, officials told news agency PTI. An AK-47 rifle was recovered from her vehicle, they added.The accused, identified as Dr Shaheen, was arrested along with seven others, including Kashmiri doctor Muzammil Ganaie, who was picked up in Faridabad. Dr Shaheen was flown to Srinagar for custodial interrogation. According to officials, the arrests led to the seizure of 2,900 kg of explosives and uncovered what they described as a “white collar” network linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed and Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind. The operation was carried out jointly by police forces of Jammu and Kashmir, Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, along with central agencies. Officials declined to specify the exact dates of the arrests, citing ongoing investigations.Police in Haryana and Jammu and Kashmir have recovered a large quantity of explosives and weapons from a rented apartment in Faridabad, following the arrest of a Pulwama-based doctor suspected of links with the Pakistan-backed Jaish-e-Mohammed group.Officials said around 360 kg of a highly inflammable substance, believed to be ammonium nitrate, was seized along with arms and bomb-making material. The haul included an assault rifle with three magazines, 83 live rounds, a pistol with eight live cartridges, two empty cartridges, two spare magazines, 12 suitcases, a bucket filled with the explosive substance, 20 timers, four batteries, remote controls, five kilograms of heavy metal and a walkie-talkie set.Police believe the materials were meant for large-scale terror attacks.The recovery followed the arrest of Dr Adil Ahmad Rather from Pulwama, who was detained in Saharanpur. His questioning led investigators to Dr Muzammal, an assistant professor at Al-Falah University in Faridabad, who was arrested nearly ten days ago. To achieve that, we have to change our political grammar and culture. We should end cult politics and dynastic politics,” he said.He also stressed that politics should not revolve around individuals holding positions indefinitely.”There is no permanent MLA, MP or minister. This includes myself. This is going to be our goal and motto of our political movement,” he added.According to Annamalai, Tamil Nadu requires another political force that can offer a different style of governance and leadership.”There is a need for another political party,” he said.Annamalai urged his supporters to remain patient as the new movement takes shape.”Whoever wants to join, let them be patient. They need a curing period, like a brick used to build a building’s foundation. Believe me and stay with me. We will surely bring a revolution to Tamil Nadu and make it the number one state in the country,” he said.He further said that young people were looking for change and that the movement would seek to connect with them through modern platforms.”Our youth are hungry for change. We cannot ignore them, and that is why we are reaching out to them through social media,” he said.Annamalai announced that the movement would be called the APJ Abdul Kalam Centre for Ethics and Politics and would be headquartered in Coimbatore.The BJP confirmed that party president Nitin Nabin had accepted Annamalai’s resignation from the primary membership of the party.In an official statement, the BJP said, “The National President of the Bharatiya Janata Party, Nitin Nabin, has accepted the resignation submitted by the Tamil Nadu Ex. State President, K. Annamalai, from the primary membership of the Party.”The development came after Annamalai visited New Delhi and held meetings with BJP president Nitin Nabin, party general secretary BL Santhosh and home minister Amit Shah.Annamalai’s exit follows months of speculation about his future in the BJP.
