Maruti Suzuki to unveil India’s first flex-fuel car tomorrow: All you need to know
Maruti Suzuki is all set to unveil India’s first flex-fuel passenger vehicle tomorrow, i.e, June 4, 2026 at a World Environment Day event at the Taj Palace in New Delhi. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari and Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas Hardeep Singh Puri are expected to attend the event. The automaker has not revealed the model that will be showcased. However, Maruti Suzuki has been developing flex-fuel technology for several years and displayed an E100-compatible version of the Fronx at the Japan Mobility Show in 2025.Flex-fuel vehicles can run on petrol blended with different proportions of ethanol, including E100. The technology is part of the government’s efforts to reduce dependence on imported crude oil and boost domestic ethanol production. To support the adoption of flex-fuel vehicles, the government plans to establish 5,000 E100 fuel dispensing stations across India over the next two years. The initiative is aimed at improving fuel availability and expanding ethanol-based mobility.Maruti Suzuki already has a strong presence in the CNG segment and is preparing to enter the electric vehicle market. A flex-fuel vehicle would add another powertrain option to the company’s portfolio. Technical specifications and fuel compatibility details of the upcoming vehicle have not yet been disclosed. More information is expected to be announced during the official unveiling. The launch is set to make Maruti Suzuki the first passenger vehicle manufacturer in India to showcase a production-ready flex-fuel car.
