A party office of Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) near Srirangam in Trichy district was allegedly torched by miscreants on Friday. Police have launched an investigation into the incident, which occurred just days ahead of the Tamil Nadu state assembly election results.The thatched shed, measuring around 400 square feet, was located in Kamanayakkanpalayam village near Pettaivaithalai in Trichy district. Ramesh, which had been erected near the office, was torn and heavily damaged.The alleged arson and vandalism took place just four days before the declaration of results for the Tamil Nadu state assembly elections.A complaint was registered at the Pettaivaithalai Police Station by Veera Siva, the Trichy district secretary of TVK’s farmers’ wing. Police have begun investigating the case and are searching for the suspects.TVK candidate S. Ramesh has demanded that the police immediately arrest the culprits. He further claimed to have received information that opposition parties are planning violent acts against him and his party workers at the vote counting centre on counting day. This summer, Madame Tussauds will display Bollywood and Indian cricket stars. Madame Tussauds London is hosting a special two-month showcase called ‘Icons of India’ featuring 13 wax figures of leading Bollywood actors and Indian cricket stars.The limited-time experience begins on Friday, from May 1 and will end on June 30. The attraction’s awards party zone will be transformed into a space inspired by Indian culture, spotlighting the global appeal of Hindi cinema and cricket.Visitors will be able to pose with some of the biggest names in Indian entertainment, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. The lineup also features Katrina Kaif, Madhuri Dixit and Ranveer Singh.The experience will also include cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, with Kohli’s figure brought in from Bangkok. Additional figures of Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kajal Aggarwal will also be displayed, travelling from other international Madame Tussauds locations.Officials said the initiative aims to celebrate the growing global popularity of Indian cinema and cricket while strengthening cultural ties between India and the UK. This summer, Madame Tussauds will display Bollywood and Indian cricket stars. Madame Tussauds London is hosting a special two-month showcase called ‘Icons of India’ featuring 13 wax figures of leading Bollywood actors and Indian cricket stars.The limited-time experience begins on Friday, from May 1 and will end on June 30. The attraction’s awards party zone will be transformed into a space inspired by Indian culture, spotlighting the global appeal of Hindi cinema and cricket.Visitors will be able to pose with some of the biggest names in Indian entertainment, including Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Amitabh Bachchan and Hrithik Roshan. The lineup also features Katrina Kaif, Madhuri Dixit and Ranveer Singh.The experience will also include cricket icons Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, with Kohli’s figure brought in from Bangkok. Additional figures of Ranbir Kapoor, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Kajal Aggarwal will also be displayed, travelling from other international Madame Tussauds locations.Officials said the initiative aims to celebrate the growing global popularity of Indian cinema and cricket while strengthening cultural ties between India and the UK. DHAKA: Bangladesh summoned acting Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pawan Badhe and protested the remarks made by Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma , and stressed avoiding comments that might hurt bilateral ties.Director General Ishrat Jahan conveyed Dhaka’s position to the acting Indian high commissioner during a meeting at the ministry of foreign affairs (MoFA). Bangladesh described the remarks as disparaging to Bangladesh-India relations and expressed its displeasure to India, said a diplomatic source. The MoFA, however, did not issue any official statement. Sarma on April 26 said 20 foreign nationals were apprehended in Assam and pushed back to Bangladesh.
