– NEW DELHI: Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Friday launched a sharp attack on the Centre over rising inflation, flagging a steep surge in commercial LPG cylinder prices, including a Rs 993 jump in a single day.The Congress leader said he had earlier warned that inflationary pressures would rise after the polls, pointing to what he described as a sharp spike in rates.In a post on X, Rahul Gandhi said the price of a commercial gas cylinder had increased by Rs 993 in a single day, calling it the biggest single-day jump. He further claimed that prices had risen by Rs 1,380 between February and the present period, which he described as an 81% increase over three months.”I had said it – the heat of inflation would come after the elections. Today, a commercial gas cylinder is Rs 993 more expensive. The biggest increase in a single day. This is the election bill. NEW DELHI: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Friday accused Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann of arriving “drunk” at the legislative assembly.In a social media post on X, Maliwal shared a clip of Mann addressing the assembly and said that Mann should undergo an “alcohol test” and, if found guilty, be removed from the post of chief minister. The CM of a sensitive border state like Punjab is allegedly intoxicated all the time… signing files while drunk. What a shame,” she added.“A person who is away from alcohol only while sleeping—how can he run Punjab? NEW DELHI: BJP Rajya Sabha MP Swati Maliwal on Friday accused Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann of arriving “drunk” at the legislative assembly.In a social media post on X, Maliwal shared a clip of Mann addressing the assembly and said that Mann should undergo an “alcohol test” and, if found guilty, be removed from the post of chief minister. The CM of a sensitive border state like Punjab is allegedly intoxicated all the time… signing files while drunk. What a shame,” she added.“A person who is away from alcohol only while sleeping—how can he run Punjab? CM Mann should undergo an alcohol test and, if found guilty, be removed from the post of chief minister,” she added.This comes days after Swati Maliwal, along with Raghav Chadha and five other Rajya Sabha members from the Aam Aadmi Party, quit and decided to merge their faction with the Bharatiya Janata Party.Reacting to the controversy, leader of opposition Partap Singh Bajwa demanded an immediate Alco-meter and dope testing of Mann and all MLAs during the ongoing session of Punjab assembly.Elected an RS MP in January 2024, Maliwal’s fallout with the party began just a few months later, in May, when she alleged that she was physically assaulted by a close aide of AAP convenor Arvind Kejriwal at the latter’s house—a claim she has repeated after her exit.This is not the first time Mann has courted controversy.
