Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded India’s Gen Z for their significant contributions to the burgeoning private space sector. He highlighted their innovative work in propulsion systems, composite materials, and satellite platforms, noting that over 300 space startups are shaping India’s future in space. This praise comes amidst political discussions involving youth engagement and electoral integrity. NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday hailed the Generation Z for its contribution to the space sector as the central government opened the sector to private players.”India’s youth puts the nation’s interests first. They utilise every opportunity wisely. When the government opened the space sector, the country’s youth, especially our Gen Z, leapt forward to take full advantage of it. Today, India’s more than 300 space start-ups are giving new hope to India’s space future,” he said while virtually inaugurated the Indian space start-up Skyroot’s Infinity Campus in Hyderabad.”Today, Gen Z engineers, Gen Z designers, Gen Z coders, and Gen Z scientists are creating new technologies, whether in propulsion systems, composite materials, rocket stages, or satellite platforms. India’s youth are working in fields that were unimaginable just a few years ago. India’s private space talent is making its mark globally. India’s space sector is becoming an attractive destination for global investors,” he added. The shoutout to the Gen Z comes at a time when the country’s neighbour, Nepal, witnessed an uprising by the youth, eventually toppling the government. Moreover, leader of opposition in Lok Rahul Gandhi has also, at several occasions, called upon Gen Z to beware against “vote chori”, an allegation he labelled against the BJP to skew elections in their favour in several states.Skyroot is India’s foremost private space firm, founded by IIT graduates and former Isro scientists Pawan Chandana and Bharath Dhaka.
