PATNA: Union minister and LJP(RV) chief Chirag Paswan on Saturday said the RJD was highly mistaken and under illusion about its strength as the people of the state have never voted in its favour for the last 20 years, since 2005.”Their (RJD) performance in 2015 was due to alliance with JD(U) of CM Nitish Kumar and in 2020 because of the division of NDA votes as LJP (RV) had contested alone. The situation and results of the previous two elections gave the RJD a false impression that they have enough support in Bihar to win the 2025 polls,” he said after meeting CM Nitish Kumar. He also lashed out at the opposition’s vote theft allegations and said they had started finding an excuse for the defeat from the beginning by raising doubts on the special intensive revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls. “Instead of trying to mislead the people by PPT presentations, they should move court if they have proof,” he said without naming Rahul Gandhi.Chirag, whose party elected Govindganj MLA-elect Raju Tiwari as the legislature party leader in a meeting held on Saturday, said the LJP (RV) was given difficult seats as 26 of the 29 the party got had not been won by the NDA in 2020.”But PM Narendra Modi and Union home minister Amit Shah reposed faith in him and said I could win back those seats. We won from zero to 19 seats, including 16 which were not the sitting ones of the NDA,” Chirag said, adding, “We tried our best to live up to the trust the alliance had in us.”Chirag also took a swipe at RJD leader Tejashwi Prasad Yadav’s claim before the assembly election results that he would take oath as the CM on Nov 18. “This is arrogance. They talk like a dictator. It’s not the way of talking in a democracy where people’s mandate counts,” he said. The Union minister said the next five years will be a golden period for Bihar as PM Modi also spoke about the new MY (Mahila-Youth) equation replacing the Muslim-Yadav combine. He said the NDA manifesto is not a few pages but the blueprint for creating one crore jobs and employment by setting up industries in every district.Chirag praised CM Nitish for leading the alliance from the front despite bad weather while the so-called young leader sat in a room, saying he continued travelling by road for campaigning. He also dismissed speculations about his relationship with Jitan Ram Manjhi and Upendra Kushwaha and said it was a united NDA that clinched such a massive mandate.About the AuthorJai Narain PandeyThe writer has a vast experience of over 30 years in the field of journalism, as a reporter and a news editor. NEW DELHI: It was not the sort of work that is associated with state machinery. The court of additional sessions judge Shefali Barnala Tandon (of the Patiala House courts) was convened at her residence around 3 am on Friday to remand a person accused of money laundering, Swaraj Singh Yadav, in ED’s custody. Yadav, who is the promoter of Ocean Seven Buildtech Pvt Ltd, is accused of illegally selling PM Awas Yojana flats in Gurgaon in all-cash transactions. After a daylong search, Yadav was held by the agency before midnight on Thursday. ED’s move came in connection with the alleged laundering of more than Rs 222 crore of funds generated from illegal sale of apartments meant for the poor under PM Awas Yojana. These were sold at an inflated price of Rs 40-50 lakh each to new buyers by cheating the original allottees whose allotment was cancelled, with not even their deposits being refunded. The original cost of a flat was Rs 26.5 lakh.Realtor running ‘nationwide laundering scam’, says ED Using these funds, ED said, the accused acquired personal assets, including 500 acres at Ware village in Maharashtra, 100 acres on Pune-Alibag Road, Sai Rupa Resorts in Tirthan Valley in Himachal Pradesh and land in Boston (US), besides financial assets in the UK.”The search for the arrestee started at 6.55 am, and he has to be produced before the court within 24 hours of the search, as per the guidelines of Supreme Court and various high courts,” the ED submitted before the judge while producing the accused “at this odd hour” at her residence. The legal counsel of the accused was still on his way when the court began its proceedings at 3.05 am, and by the time the hearings from both the sides concluded, it was 6.30 am. The judge remanded the accused in ED’s custody till Nov 28, when he is to be produced again. Not taking a chance, the judge specifically instructed that the accused be brought before the court at 2 pm on that day.The ED accused Yadav of committing “a nationwide money laundering scam since 2006, duping thousands of buyers in Mumbai, Jaipur, Kotputli and Gurugram”. As per FIRs registered against him with the Delhi police, an estimated Rs 222 crore of homebuyers’ money was siphoned by the accused after layering them through a related “in-house construction agency”.”The concerted and accelerated liquidation of both personal and company-held assets by arrestee Swaraj Singh Yadav in the recent past strongly indicates his intent to dispose of the proceeds of crime and escape action under provisions of law. The investigation records confirm the urgent disposal of assets and liquidation of funds in anticipation of legal action. He had already sold a flat in Jalvayu Vihar in Gurugram, 40 acres of land in Borgaon, Maharashtra, and 15 acres in Jaipur,” the ED said.”This coincides with his wife Sunita Swaraj relocating to the US in Aug 2025,” the agency added and brought to the notice of the court the fact that the accused had transferred huge amounts to the US via a bank account of his wife’s in Bank of Baroda. With his children pursuing graduation from Trinity College, Connecticut, US, there is every possibility of his fleeing from justice, the agency said.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos’MMC’: PM Modi Mocks Congress After NDA’s Bihar Win; Calls It ‘Muslim League Maoist’ Party‘Abandoned Tribals To Their Fate’: PM Modi Accuses Congress Of Neglecting Tribal CommunitiesCDS General Anil Chauhan Highlights Inter-Service Jointness And Integration In Op SindoorEAM Jaishankar, Russian FM Lavrov To Hold Talks In Moscow On Nov 17 Ahead Of Putin’s India TripAir Marshal AK Bharti Reveals Why India Ended Operation Sindoor After Achieving Its Core ObjectiveWTO DG Okonjo-Iweala Lauds India’s Trade Strategy, Calls For Multilateral LeadershipPakistan Rejects Taliban Narrative And Says Rising Terror From Afghan Soil Can No Longer Be IgnoredNDA Sweeps Bihar, Nitish Kumar Prepares for 10th CM Oath; A Look Back at ‘Sushasan Babu’s’ JourneyPiyush Goyal Says India Ready For WTO Leadership, Rejects Reform Agendas Pushed By Developed NationsJ&K Police Confirm 9 Killed in Nowgam Blast After Explosives Recovered From Faridabad Blows Up123Photostories6 ancient 10-minute yoga poses that will help sharpen memory and increase focus5 must-have pieces for a winter capsule wardrobeMahesh Babu to Priyanka Chopra: 5 best celebrity looks of the day5 easy exercises for shoulder painreliefSmelling this fragrance can instantly improve focus and supercharge the brain, and no, it’s not coffee6 easy and science-backed snacks that fight colon cancerMold Toxicity: How to recognize its symptoms that appear like a common cold7 phrases parents can say instead of ‘No’ to kidsExclusive – Bigg Boss 19: Mridul Tiwari reacts to his eviction, calls Farrhana Bhatt ‘toxic’ and ‘evil’, and comments on Amaal Mallik’s image being ‘white-washed’Animal protein vs plant protein: Which is best for meeting the body’s nutritional needs?123Hot PicksAlinagar Election ResultRaghopur Election ResultBihar Election Result 2025Gold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingCarey Price WifeArjun TendulkarTyreek HillsDubai Prince Sheikh Hamdan Net WorthZack RyderPat NarduzziJack DohertyWayne Gretzkys SonDak PrescottPercy Harvin

New Delhi: Investigators probing Monday’s Delhi blast suspect that triacetone triperoxide aka TATP could be one of the key components of the IED that was in the car that exploded on Monday evening near Red Fort. At least two-three kg ammonium nitrate and fuel oil might also have been used along with other chemicals, which would have taken the bomb’s weight to 40-50kg, sources said.A large bag, presumably containing the improvised-explosive device, was kept on the rear seat of the i20 being driven by Dr Umar Un Nabi, who died in the blast, CCTV footage revealed earlier. The bag had occupied almost half of the rear seat, indicating the size of the IED. The impact of the blast was such that it was felt 50 metres underground and body parts were thrown in a 50-metre radius.Nicknamed ‘mother of satan’, TATP is extremely unstable, highly sensitive to shock, heat, friction and electrostatic discharge. However, it can help build “military-grade equivalent IED”, capable of impact amounting to almost 80% power of TNT (trinitrotoluene). If confirmed in the official detailed explosive report, which is yet to be submitted by National Security Guard and the forensics, it will add more clarity to the investigation, cops said. “It’s dangerous to handle in any quantity; accidental detonation during manufacturing or transportation is common,” said a senior security establishment officer. This would mean that bomb may not have needed a detonator and could have exploded due to heat or other factors. As an IED assembler, Umar knew this and that’s why he took the car to a crowded area, said sources.Police earlier suspected that the blast might have been “accidental”, a theory which now seems plausible in the wake of a blast at Srinagar’s Nowgam police station on Friday. “That’s why there were no shrapnel or pellets at the spot though car bombs don’t need them as their own parts act as shrapnels,” said an officer.TATP’s primary “advantage” is the ease of obtaining its precursor chemicals, acetone and hydrogen peroxide. They are easily available from common household products.Forensic experts said ammonium nitrate is an oxidiser and the main component in many industrial explosives, most famously ANFO (ammonium nitrate/fuel oil). Peroxides, especially concentrated hydrogen peroxide, are also powerful oxidisers.”Along with other things, explosives typically require a combination of a strong oxidiser and a fuel (a combustible material, often organic like fuel oil, aluminium powder or glycerine) to create a high-energy, detonable mixture,” said an FSL officer.Researchers have even explored hybrid explosives that combine hydrogen peroxide and ammonium nitrate as the oxidising phase, along with a fuel. “These mixtures are specifically designed to be powerful explosives, sometimes performing similarly to standard ammonium nitrate-based explosives,” said a bomb disposal squad member. “Mixing the oxidisers with with a fuel creates a highly energetic and potentially unstable material,” he added.About the AuthorRaj Shekhar JhaRaj Shekhar Jha is a journalist for the Times of India with over a decade of experience in reporting on national security, terrorism, crime and prisons.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos’MMC’: PM Modi Mocks Congress After NDA’s Bihar Win; Calls It ‘Muslim League Maoist’ Party‘Abandoned Tribals To Their Fate’: PM Modi Accuses Congress Of Neglecting Tribal CommunitiesCDS General Anil Chauhan Highlights Inter-Service Jointness And Integration In Op SindoorEAM Jaishankar, Russian FM Lavrov To Hold Talks In Moscow On Nov 17 Ahead Of Putin’s India TripAir Marshal AK Bharti Reveals Why India Ended Operation Sindoor After Achieving Its Core ObjectiveWTO DG Okonjo-Iweala Lauds India’s Trade Strategy, Calls For Multilateral LeadershipPakistan Rejects Taliban Narrative And Says Rising Terror From Afghan Soil Can No Longer Be IgnoredNDA Sweeps Bihar, Nitish Kumar Prepares for 10th CM Oath; A Look Back at ‘Sushasan Babu’s’ JourneyPiyush Goyal Says India Ready For WTO Leadership, Rejects Reform Agendas Pushed By Developed NationsJ&K Police Confirm 9 Killed in Nowgam Blast After Explosives Recovered From Faridabad Blows Up123Photostories6 ancient 10-minute yoga poses that will help sharpen memory and increase focus5 must-have pieces for a winter capsule wardrobeMahesh Babu to Priyanka Chopra: 5 best celebrity looks of the day5 easy exercises for shoulder painreliefSmelling this fragrance can instantly improve focus and supercharge the brain, and no, it’s not coffee6 easy and science-backed snacks that fight colon cancerMold Toxicity: How to recognize its symptoms that appear like a common cold7 phrases parents can say instead of ‘No’ to kidsExclusive – Bigg Boss 19: Mridul Tiwari reacts to his eviction, calls Farrhana Bhatt ‘toxic’ and ‘evil’, and comments on Amaal Mallik’s image being ‘white-washed’Animal protein vs plant protein: Which is best for meeting the body’s nutritional needs?123Hot PicksAlinagar Election ResultRaghopur Election ResultBihar Election Result 2025Gold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingCarey Price WifeArjun TendulkarTyreek HillsDubai Prince Sheikh Hamdan Net WorthZack RyderPat NarduzziJack DohertyWayne Gretzkys SonDak PrescottPercy Harvin

NEW DELHI: The BJP on Saturday accused the Congress of insulting the people’s mandate and looking for excuses to hide its failure, even as the opposition party charged the Election Commission with partisanship following its massive loss in the Bihar election. The attack from the party came on a day the Congress continued to be in the crosshairs of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. While speaking at a programme organised by natives of Bihar in Surat, Modi said that as Congress is unable to explain the reasons for the defeat to its allies or to its members, its top netas have chosen the easy way out by blaming EVMs, SIR and EC. “They have found a way to make excuses. This excuse may keep them afloat for a while, but their cadre will not accept them for long,” the PM said. BJP’s chief spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni said Congress brass is incapable of introspection despite suffering repeated poll losses and credited the people’s trust in the governing alliance’s policies and programmes for its big win. Citing excuses to explain away its failures was a tradition in Congress, he said. BJP also played up the rumblings within the opposition camp to mock Congress for blaming the Election Commission. While BJP general secretary Tarun Chugh slammed the party for defaming the country’s democratic process and its institutions like EC, its IT department head Amit Malviya highlighted dissenting voices within the opposition alliance to say that the knives are out in Mahagathbandhan after its latest drubbing.Malviya said, “And now, senior Congress leader Shakeel Ahmad has accused Krishna Allavaru, Rahul Gandhi’s pointsman in Bihar, of disrespecting senior leaders and selling Congress tickets for cash… Mahagathbandhan was never about principles – it was an opportunistic stitch-up held together by corruption and self-interest.” He added, “The people of Bihar saw through it. They chose stability, development and integrity by voting decisively for the NDA.”Chugh said the people of Bihar have voted for livelihood, prosperity and development and emphatically rejected the “jungle raaj” associated with opposition.End of ArticleFollow Us On Social MediaVideos’MMC’: PM Modi Mocks Congress After NDA’s Bihar Win; Calls It ‘Muslim League Maoist’ Party‘Abandoned Tribals To Their Fate’: PM Modi Accuses Congress Of Neglecting Tribal CommunitiesCDS General Anil Chauhan Highlights Inter-Service Jointness And Integration In Op SindoorEAM Jaishankar, Russian FM Lavrov To Hold Talks In Moscow On Nov 17 Ahead Of Putin’s India TripAir Marshal AK Bharti Reveals Why India Ended Operation Sindoor After Achieving Its Core ObjectiveWTO DG Okonjo-Iweala Lauds India’s Trade Strategy, Calls For Multilateral LeadershipPakistan Rejects Taliban Narrative And Says Rising Terror From Afghan Soil Can No Longer Be IgnoredNDA Sweeps Bihar, Nitish Kumar Prepares for 10th CM Oath; A Look Back at ‘Sushasan Babu’s’ JourneyPiyush Goyal Says India Ready For WTO Leadership, Rejects Reform Agendas Pushed By Developed NationsJ&K Police Confirm 9 Killed in Nowgam Blast After Explosives Recovered From Faridabad Blows Up123Photostories5 must-have pieces for a winter capsule wardrobeMahesh Babu to Priyanka Chopra: 5 best celebrity looks of the day5 easy exercises for shoulder painreliefSmelling this fragrance can instantly improve focus and supercharge the brain, and no, it’s not coffee6 easy and science-backed snacks that fight colon cancerMold Toxicity: How to recognize its symptoms that appear like a common cold7 phrases parents can say instead of ‘No’ to kidsExclusive – Bigg Boss 19: Mridul Tiwari reacts to his eviction, calls Farrhana Bhatt ‘toxic’ and ‘evil’, and comments on Amaal Mallik’s image being ‘white-washed’Animal protein vs plant protein: Which is best for meeting the body’s nutritional needs?10 phrases parents should never tell a child123Hot PicksAlinagar Election ResultRaghopur Election ResultBihar Election Result 2025Gold rate todaySilver rate todayPublic Holidays NovemberBank Holidays NovemberTop TrendingCarey Price WifeArjun TendulkarTyreek HillsDubai Prince Sheikh Hamdan Net WorthZack RyderPat NarduzziJack DohertyWayne Gretzkys SonDak PrescottPercy Harvin

New Delhi: The crime branch of Delhi Police has filed two FIRs against Al-Falah University for alleged offences of cheating and forgery, and searched its premises in Delhi and Faridabad. Police have also issued a notice to the university seeking certain documents, sources said.Meanwhile, the special cell, which is probing a deeper conspiracy behind Monday’s car bomb blast near Red Fort, carried out raids and searches on premises linked to the university and doctors from there, besides six locations in Nuh. Six people, including two doctors and a cleric, have been detained. One of the doctors, picked up from Ahmadbas village in Haryana’s Mewat district, was asked if alleged bomber Dr Umar Un Nabi had met him before the blast. Umar’s location, while he was on his way from Ferozepur Jhirka to Delhi, came near this village, an officer said. The other doctor belongs to Pathankot and had worked at the university in 2020-21. “The doctor was in telephonic communication with staff posted at Al-Falah University. It is being examined whether he was in touch with Umar,” said an officer. The university-cum-hospital, located at Dhauj in Haryana’s Faridabad district, has been at the centre of the blast investigation following the arrest of its doctors. Umer worked at its hospital. The investigation has revealed that room no. 13 in building no. 17 of the university was used as a key hideout where the blast plan was hatched and explosive materials were gathered, said sources. The two FIRs, the crime branch said, were registered following complaints and actions initiated by University Grants Commission and National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC). Both bodies have flagged serious irregularities at the university in their assessment and inquiry reports. On Thursday, NAAC also issued a show-cause notice to Al-Falah University for displaying false accreditation on its website. “The first FIR has been lodged for cheating while the second FIR pertains to the alleged false accreditation claims,” a senior officer said. The university website says it was established by the Haryana assembly under Haryana Private Universities Act. According to the NAAC notice: “Al-Falah University, which is neither accredited nor applied for accreditation by NAAC, has publicly displayed on its website that it is an endeavour of Al-Falah Charitable Trust, which has been running three colleges on the campus, namely Al-Falah School of Engineering and Technology (since 1997, Graded A by NAAC), Brown Hill College of Engineering and Technology (since 2008), and Al-Falah School of Education and Training, Graded A by NAAC.” It called the claims “absolutely false and akin to misleading the public, especially the parents, students and stakeholders”.About the AuthorAbhayAbhay is a Special Correspondent at The Times of India, Delhi, with extensive experience in investigative journalism.
