His colleagues at the gas agency claimed that he consumed a poisonous substance as he could not cope with the work pressure due to the prevailing circumstances in the country because of the conflict in West Asia. Rawat’s brother-in-law Rajendra Singh Bora told TOI on Sunday that he looked normal when he came home from work. “He called me around 6.30 pm Sunday, informing me that he was going to the hospital to get his maternal uncle, who had undergone gall blader surgery, discharged from hospital. The two came back after one hour. Rawat soon complained of discomfort and asked his family to take him to hospital, where he died,” said Bora.Champawat police station in-charge B S Bisht said, “The district hospital informed us about Rawat’s death. The body was handed over to the family after postmortem, the report of which is awaited.”Usha Rana, gas manager, KMVN Pithoragarh, said Rawat’s death was not due to work pressure, though she accepted that gas distribution workers are under pressure due to the prevailing situation. Image: IANS T’puram: EC on Monday sought a report from Thiruvananthapuram district collector over BJP’s Kattakkada candidate P K Krishnadas’s controversial speech saying the victory of LDF or UDF would promote ‘love jihad’ in Kerala. EC has also sought legal advice on the matter.At an election rally inaugurated by Union home minister Amit Shah, Krishnadas alleged that LDF and UDF were hand-in-glove with Social Democratic Party of India and Jamaat-e-Islami, and that votes in favour of either front would lead to widespread incidents of ‘love jihad’. He further alleged that JEI or SDPI would control the govt if UDF or LDF came to office.Krishnadas alleged that pro-Pakistan extremist organisations would actively promote ‘love jihad’. “Hindu and Christian girls would be trapped in ‘love jihad’. These elements would then use them for anti-national activities,” he said.Stressing that CPM and Congress were one and the same, he said, “Votes cast in favour of Congress or CPM would lead to ‘love jihad’. Bhopal: AIIMS Bhopal is stepping into the future of healthcare with a new partnership with Erasmus Medical Center, Rotterdam, The Netherlands. Together, they will work on cutting-edge research in pharmacogenomics — the science of how our genes affect the way medicines work.For patients, the collaboration promises more personalised treatment. Instead of relying on the same medicine for everyone, genetic testing could help doctors identify which drug will work best for each individual, leading to safer prescriptions, fewer side effects and faster recovery.This research aims to evaluate scalability, clinical utility, and health-economic impact, with the goal of making treatments more personalized and cost-effective.A high-level delegation from Erasmus Medical Centre, led by Prof Peter J van der Spek, head of clinical bioinformatics, visited AIIMS Bhopal and met with the institute director Dr Madhabananda Kar. During the meeting, a letter of intent was presented to strengthen academic cooperation between the two institutions. The proposed project, valued at over Rs 10 crores, will be spearheaded by Dr Shubham Atal, additional professor in the Department of Pharmacology at AIIMS Bhopal, who will serve as the principal investigator.
