Photo credit: IANS NEW DELHI: After failing to build and grant possession of promised commercial units in plaza-4 of Central Square Complex at Bara Hindu Rao for over three decades, the builder has now informed Delhi RERA that it’s not in a position to complete the project and has “abandoned” it as the company doesn’t have any sanctioned building plans.As per a Delhi RERA order of May 12, which was uploaded recently on its website, the counsel of Purearth Infrastructure Ltd recorded this response when the regulator was hearing complaints from three of its customers. The builder’s counsel said it is “willing to refund money to all allottees as per the RERA, 2016”. The bench of RERA chairman Anand Kumar and member Devesh Singh directed Purearth’s counsel to make a statement about the abandonment of the project.Purearth Infrastructure is a joint venture between DCM Ltd and Singaporean investors.This new stand of the company has come as a rude shock to buyers who have been waiting for years to get the promised commercial units in the tower in Delhi’s central area. Responding to TOI’s queries, a senior executive of Purearth Infrastructure said, “Because of several ongoing litigation, including with MCD, we can’t carry out construction. So, we will ask buyers to take back their payments with interest as per the RERA law.”Some of the affected buyers said that they had no idea of the builder’s new plan to abandon the project. “Even their Annual Report of 2024-25 said the company has flatted factory project ‘Central Square’ comprising four plazas. It has received completion certificates for three of them, and these are fully operational, whereas plaza no-4 is under construction. We want the company to give us the units it had promised,” said one of them.Another buyer said even after MCD had approved the building plan for plaza-4 in May 2010, the company did not take up construction during the validity period of five years.In January this year, TOI had reported how the plot on which plaza-4 was to be built remains a huge pit. The company had then told this newspaper that “discussions are underway on Plaza-4 with municipal authorities as we are requesting them for increased parkings and greater height so that we can provide much more green area. We will commence construction as soon as approvals come.”The commercial units were proposed on prime land which housed Delhi Cloth & General Mills (DCM) industrial complex, a large textile manufacturing mill. Days ago, the Nah tribal community in Arunachal had raised concerns over alleged Chinese incursions along the Line of Actual Control in Upper Subansiri district, claiming that the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) has occupied large parts of their traditional grazing, hunting and agricultural areas over the past six years. Nah Welfare Society (NWS) had also submitted a memorandum to the Subansiri deputy commissioner alleging the PLA’s occupation. “Our ancestral lands which were our hunting areas where we freely roamed and collected forest products few years back and our cattle grazing areas are now under the occupation of the Chinese PLA,” NWS President Keru Chader said. NWS also alleged Chinese activity had intensified over the past 10 to 15 years “with an intention to occupy as much land as possible”. It claimed Oying, Paniar, Marpan, Potrang and Tindingtang, all under traditional Nah control until 2020 have gradually come under Chinese occupation. Some of these sites are regarded as pilgrimage destinations by the community, the memorandum said.Issuing a strong rebuttal to reports carrying the details of the NWS memorandum, the Indian Army on Monday said, “We have seen some media reports alleging recent encroachment by Chinese PLA and setting up of camps in Arunachal Pradesh. NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs on Monday strongly condemned Pakistan’s air strikes and military operations on Afghan territory, describing them as a “blatant act of aggression” and saying that the attacks reflected Islamabad’s “persistent pattern of reckless behaviour”.In a statement, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said the strikes constituted an assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and posed a threat to regional peace and stability.”India strongly condemns Pakistan’s air-strikes on Afghan territory that have resulted in several civilian casualties, including women and children,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.”This blatant act of aggression by Pakistan is an assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and direct threat to regional peace and stability,” he added.Jaiswal said that the act of regression “reflects Pakistan’s persistent pattern of reckless behaviour and its futile attempt to externalize internal failures through desperate acts of violence beyond its borders.”Expressing solidarity with Afghanistan, he added, “India conveys its condolences to Afghan families that have lost loved ones, prays for early recovery of those injured and reiterates its unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”The remarks came after Afghan officials said Pakistani military operations and strikes carried out overnight killed at least 36 civilians and injured more than 160 others amid escalating tensions between the two countries.Pakistan, however, said the operations were launched in response to militant attacks inside its territory. Information minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistani security forces conducted ground operations along the border followed by strikes on militant hideouts and safe havens, killing 29 fighters.Afghanistan condemned the strikes in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces as a “cowardly act of aggression” and an “act of brutality”, with officials warning that Kabul would respond “in due time”.According to Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Taliban government, Pakistani forces struck a house in Paktia province’s Chamkani district, killing an elderly man and a child. He said that when villagers gathered to rescue survivors, the area was struck again, killing 28 people and injuring 158 others. In Paktika province, six civilians, mostly women and children, were killed when another residential house was hit, while a strike in Kunar province reportedly killed around 30 livestock.The latest escalation prompted both Afghanistan and Pakistan to summon each other’s senior diplomats on Monday to lodge formal protests. MEA condemns Pakistan airstrikes on Afghanistan. NEW DELHI: The ministry of external affairs on Monday strongly condemned Pakistan’s air strikes and military operations on Afghan territory, describing them as a “blatant act of aggression” and saying that the attacks reflected Islamabad’s “persistent pattern of reckless behaviour”.In a statement, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) said the strikes constituted an assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and posed a threat to regional peace and stability.”India strongly condemns Pakistan’s air-strikes on Afghan territory that have resulted in several civilian casualties, including women and children,” MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said.”This blatant act of aggression by Pakistan is an assault on Afghanistan’s sovereignty and direct threat to regional peace and stability,” he added.Jaiswal said that the act of regression “reflects Pakistan’s persistent pattern of reckless behaviour and its futile attempt to externalize internal failures through desperate acts of violence beyond its borders.”Expressing solidarity with Afghanistan, he added, “India conveys its condolences to Afghan families that have lost loved ones, prays for early recovery of those injured and reiterates its unwavering support for Afghanistan’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.”The remarks came after Afghan officials said Pakistani military operations and strikes carried out overnight killed at least 36 civilians and injured more than 160 others amid escalating tensions between the two countries.Pakistan, however, said the operations were launched in response to militant attacks inside its territory. Information minister Attaullah Tarar said Pakistani security forces conducted ground operations along the border followed by strikes on militant hideouts and safe havens, killing 29 fighters.Afghanistan condemned the strikes in Paktia, Paktika and Kunar provinces as a “cowardly act of aggression” and an “act of brutality”, with officials warning that Kabul would respond “in due time”.According to Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesperson for Afghanistan’s Taliban government, Pakistani forces struck a house in Paktia province’s Chamkani district, killing an elderly man and a child. He said that when villagers gathered to rescue survivors, the area was struck again, killing 28 people and injuring 158 others. In Paktika province, six civilians, mostly women and children, were killed when another residential house was hit, while a strike in Kunar province reportedly killed around 30 livestock.The latest escalation prompted both Afghanistan and Pakistan to summon each other’s senior diplomats on Monday to lodge formal protests. The fresh violence marks another sharp escalation in relations between the neighbours, following months of cross-border clashes that have killed hundreds of people since February.Get the latest India news and live updates.
