NEW DELHI: The two-day Bharat Bodhan AI Conclave opened here Thursday, bringing policymakers, academics and industry leaders together to chart how AI can be deployed at scale across India’s education system. The conclave follows a closed-door AI roundtable chaired a day earlier by education minister Dharmendra Pradhan with founders of 10 Indian edtech startups.Pradhan said tech must move beyond expanding access to content and focus on improving learning outcomes. Calling AI a “powerful instrument of empowerment and inclusion”, he said it would be central to achieving vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047 if deployed responsibly.Wednesday’s roundtable at IIT-D brought together policymakers, academics and entrepreneurs to discuss AI use cases aligned with the NE. Startups showcased AI-first solutions across K-12 learning, test preparation, language learning, upskilling and vocational education. Companies included Arivihan, Fermi AI, Seekho, among others. It has also proposed to relax the upper age limit for government jobs up to 40 years, aiming to widen employment opportunities.In the healthcare sector, Congress has promised a comprehensive insurance cover of Rs 20 lakh for every family in the Union Territory.Alongside welfare measures, the party has emphasised governance reforms. It has assured that local body elections will be conducted within six months of coming to power, while also reiterating its long-standing demand for full statehood for Puducherry.Targeting the BJP, Rahul Gandhi accused it of failing to fulfil its promise of granting statehood and alleged that the UT is being run by “remote control”, sidelining local leadership.He also levelled corruption charges, claiming that “there is a 30 per cent commission taken on all contracts” and that the government has become a “collection agent”.Urging voters to support the Congress and its alliance partners, Rahul Gandhi said that the party aims to form a government that truly represents the voice of the people of Puducherry.The Puducherry assembly elections will be held for 30 seats in a single phase on April 9, with counting of votes scheduled for May 4. NEW DELHI: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Monday called off his scheduled election campaign in Chennai, citing logistical constraints imposed by local authorities.Vijay was set to campaign in the Villivakkam and T Nagar constituencies. While police had granted permission for the events, the party alleged that the time allocated to travel between the two locations was insufficient, news agency ANI reported quoting party sources.Citing these restrictions, Vijay decided to cancel the campaign for the day, adding that TVK is likely to approach the Election Commission over the issue. An official statement from the party is awaited.Tamil Nadu will vote in a single phase on April 23, with counting scheduled for May 4.The main contest is expected between the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK)-led Secular Progressive Alliance (SPA)—which includes Congress, DMDK and VCK—and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), led by AIADMK with the BJP and PMK as allies.Actor-turned-politician Vijay is set to make his electoral debut with TVK and is aiming to position the party as a third force in the state.Earlier on Saturday, Vijay launched a sharp attack on established alliances during a rally in Puducherry, calling the AINRC-BJP combine “tired” and the DMK-Congress alliance “confused”.“There are 2 alliances in Puducherry… In Tamil Nadu, DMK-Congress is a confused alliance. Similarly, here too it continues to be a confused alliance. Similarly, there is an NR Congress-BJP alliance. It is not a united alliance. It is a tired alliance. Why hasn’t this alliance granted statehood to Puducherry?
