GUJCET provisional answer key 2026: The Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET) 2026 wrapped up on March 29, with thousands of students stepping out of exam centres after a long day of papers. Now, the focus has shifted to what comes next, the provisional answer key, which is expected to be released soon.The exam was held offline across a massive network, 34 zones, 668 centres, and 6,857 blocks, with CCTV cameras and tight monitoring in place to keep things fair. Participation once again reflected a familiar trend, with more male candidates (73,150) than female candidates (62,725) appearing for the test.
Biology sees the biggest turnout
This year, the biology stream drew the highest number of students. Around 77,074 candidates opted for the B Group, compared to 58,406 in the mathematics (A Group). Only a small number, 395 students, chose to appear for both streams, highlighting a clear preference split among aspirants.
A full day of exams
The test was spread across three sessions through the day. Physics and Chemistry were held together in the morning, followed by Biology in the early afternoon and Mathematics later in the day.The marking pattern remained structured, the combined Physics-Chemistry paper carried 80 marks, while Biology and Mathematics were 40 marks each.
Extra time for divyang candidates
One of the key changes this year focused on accessibility. Divyang candidates were given an additional 20 minutes per hour, bringing GUJCET in line with provisions already followed in board exams.This meant the overall schedule stretched beyond the usual window, running from 9:30 am to 5:05 pm. Officials say the move is aimed at making the exam process more inclusive and fair for everyone.
Students from across boards, and beyond India
While most candidates were from the Gujarat Board (over 1.15 lakh), the exam also saw participation from CBSE (18,769 students) and CISCE (729 students).Students from states like Maharashtra, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh also appeared for the test. Interestingly, 12 international candidates registered this year — a small number, but one that signals the exam’s growing reach.
Answer key expected soon
With the exam now over, attention is firmly on the provisional answer key, likely to be released in the first week of April on the official website.Once released, it will include the question papers, correct answers, and a window for students to raise objections. After reviewing these challenges, the final answer key will be issued, and that will eventually decide the GUJCET 2026 results, expected in May.
