Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi, left, and Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma NEW DELHI: Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Friday slammed Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, saying he is “rattled” by MP Gaurav Gogoi amid a row over alleged “Pakistan links.”She accused Sarma of attacking Gogoi and his family because he is pursuing the “politics of love.”Speaking to reporters in Guwahati, Priyanka Gandhi said politics has “two types of leaders” — those who practise positive politics and those who rely on polarisation and personal attacks.”There are two types of leaders – one, those with a positive mindset and others who believe in polarisation and attacking people. The way Gaurav ji (Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi) and his family are being targeted proves that this kind of politics is wrong. I think the people of Assam know that the other side is rattled by him; this is the reason why all this is happening. It is because he is walking on the right path, he is being attacked…It is like a badge of honour,” she said when asked about Sarma’s repeated attacks on Gogoi over alleged Pakistan links.”Nobody should attack the family and children (of a political leader),” Priyanka added. The remarks come amid an ongoing political storm in Assam, where CM Himanta Sarma has repeatedly alleged that Gogoi and his wife have ties to Pakistani national Ali Tauqeer Sheikh, plotting to undermine India’s development. Sarma announced the probe, including evidence, has been handed to central agencies, with the SIT investigation also set for transfer.Taking a direct swipe, the Wayanad MP said that the Assam CM should “talk about the youth and women of the state, who are looking for jobs.””You are seeing how much corruption is taking place. It is just a betrayal of the people of the state,” she told reporters.About the AuthorTOI News DeskThe TOI News Desk comprises a dedicated and tireless team of journalists who operate around the clock to deliver the most current and comprehensive news and updates to the readers of The Times of India worldwide.
