How many more blessings could I have asked for, to share such a deep, beautiful connection with you… Asha Atya Forever in my heart.” The report noted that Bhosle played Padmini’s mother in ‘Mai’, marking her acting debut on the big screen.

Reports have also said that Bhosle dedicated the film to her own mother, who was lovingly called “Mai.”Asha Bhosle died in Mumbai and was admitted to Breach Candy Hospital on Saturday before her death. Her last rites were scheduled to take place at Shivaji Park on Monday at 4:00 p.m. She remained one of the most influential playback singers in Indian cinema. Bhosle sang her first song for the 1943 Marathi drama ‘Majha Bal’ and went on to deliver songs that shaped generations of film music. Her best-known tracks include ‘Chura Liya Hai Tumne Jo Dil Ko’, ‘Do Lafzon Ki Hai Dil Ki Kahani’, ‘Kya Ghazab Karte Ho Ji’, ‘O Haseena Zulfonwale Jane Jahan’, and ‘Ye Ladka Hay Allah Kaisa Hai Diwana’.
