NEW DELHI: Two men were allegedly beaten up in west Delhi’s Janakpuri on Tuesday by a group that suspected they were cattle smugglers. Police got a PCR call. The caller said people had caught suspected cattle smugglers near Janakpuri School and were taking him towards Najafgarh.Police found a damaged car on the roadside. The caller, who identified himself as Nirmal, told police that while passing through the area, he saw few people assaulting two men and vandalising their vehicle, DCP (west) Darade Sharad Bhaskar said.Police found out during the inquiry that the injured men – Amaan and Mohammad Irfan – reportedly supplied buffalo meat daily from the Ghazipur slaughterhouse to three shops -two in Khyala and one in Bindapur. “They produced an MCD slaughterhouse receipt dated Jan 6, mentioning one buffalo in the name of Nabeel,” the officer said.Police further claimed that Nabeel, the brother of Amaan, also supplied meat to the same shops. After completing deliveries, Amaan and Mohammad Irfan were allegedly confronted by two men, Vishal and Gopal, who suspected them of cow smuggling. The assault on the duo followed.
